Dear all, next Tuesday, 21st May, the band will be performing for Art Street in school. Mostly Sec2s & probably some Sec3 & 4s will be performing. Please listen up for announcements on Tuesday morning regarding the time to report.

Time for a update yes.

Anw, Impressions 9 & founder's day is finally over. Which also means the stepping down of the Sec 4&5 seniors, & the promotion of the sec3s to become t new leaders of the band!

Just want t say i'm really proud of all of you guys these past months!

I believe everyone of you guys have worked really hard t make impressions & founder's day a great success!

I'm sure everyone who turned up for Impressions 9 really enjoyed themselves that's thanks t all your hard work (: So keep up the goodwork alright!

Also very good job for founder's day even though we had very limited time t prepare ourselves, we still manage t put up a good performance!

In the meantime, work hard for your midyears & hope t see you guys all back in band after the exams! :D

Hi all!

Firstly, i just wanna say well done to all, sec1s CCA selection has been a great success! :D

We managed to get 55 new recruitments, so good job to everyone!

So now that sec1 orientation is over, the next few events coming up are the upcoming march band camp & of course Impressions 9!

We've got less than 4 months to impressions & having 9 songs to master, it's definitely not easy.

So i really do hope everyone have been bringing home their instruments to practice. If you haven't been, it's time you start to! Because we dont have much time!

I'm sure everyone wants Impressions 9 to be a big success & dont wanna have any regrets after it's over, so it's very impt that you guys start working hard now yes?

Our march band camp will be on wednesday to friday, i do hope everyone will make yourselves free & attend it as it will be very beneficial for all. We're gonna have intensive practices & will be perfecting up our pieces. So i hope all of you will try not to make any arrangements on these dates & be present for the camp (:

For all who have not been attending band practices so frequently, i do hope after you read this, you'll be coming back for band practies.

I'm sure you guys wouldn't want your section leaders, me, peilin or the teachers to coming chasing after you yeah? So do come back for practices alright.

So do practice hard for the upcoming Impressions 9 yes! :D

hello people!
just wanna share with you guys something.

consistency is lost through complacency

was just chatting with some people a few days ago. and simon came up with this.
isn't it true? we gotta really be consistent in everything we do, be it studies, band, EVERYTHING!
this year's sfy and the genting trip can be evidence of us being complacent because of consistency.
we were not consistent enough in our own practice.

so everybody, we gotta learn from our own mistakes. so now, we gotta work very very very hard. AND NOT BE COMPLACENT.
the next syf we're gonna earn back our gold medal. well, most of the seniors would not be here anymore. so juniors! it is time for you to rise up, and really lead the band. in 4 months time or so, we seniors will be stepping down. you guys really need to learn how to lead.

let's all work hard and play harder:D

This is my first time blogging here.
and don't be surprise.
cause i know you know i blog alot if you read my blog la.
anyway, thats off point la.
Wanted to blog here, cause firstly of what Jolene blogged,
don't just read, post too, so i went to get password from Jasmin since she's not online.
So ya, here i am blogging on the band blog.

Okay, first thing..
Genting trip was really really fun, if you don't believe ask those who went.
and i also hope that, for the next overseas trip, the whole band can make time for it.
Cause i really believe you people will enjoy it, and also learn something valuble from the trip.
ya, so if you all just make time for the trip, you guys can go for it.
So if there's a will, there's a way la..

And of course la, everytime go somewhere need some memories right!?
So this post cfm have alot of band pictures.

This is the best part, we was gathering for dinner, and than we started singing the karoke there. and than other schools come and copy us too..
So this shows we are cool! hahas..

I bet this is like the best day all of us who went Genting will agree..
we played together with woodgrove and yeah, we had hell lot of fun.
We played Venus and Disco mix together.
and after the concert, all of us mixed around with Woodgrove and crapped around.
Super cool, cause the opportunity of 2 bands getting together and play is like 0%.
But we did, and it was really fun!

yeah.. just abit on Genting la.
But i really hope the next time, maybe next year, Hong Kong,
you people can go la. So its really like full band outing or something,
and we can get bonded, than like so cool right!

Well next year, the Sec 3s will become Sec 4s.
Sec 2s to Sec 3s
Sec 1s to Sec 2s.
Time flies, and soon, most of the Sec 3s will all step down.
And as a Sec 3, i really hope the band will just buck up,
cause i know SHWO never falls down. But she will climb back up to the top of the mountain la.

If everyone just put in a little more effort, a little more enthu,
i believe band will rise up to get Gold in SYF and maybe even Gold with honours.
So its really time for us to buck up now,
cause soon it will be the Sec 2 leading the band.
I really hope you guys right, stop thinking of "ponning band".
If you guys really have anything unhappy with, speak with the seniors,
i know seniors won't mind anything. Just speak to them,
and whatever you're unhappy with, just say it out.
Cause we are a band, not enemies.

Band can be really very very fun, if you really put your whole heart into it.
Even if you're a sec 1 or whatever, i believe you guys can mix into the band.
Cause if Donna and Huimin can do it, why not Sec 1, Sec2 and Sec 3 & 4s?
As the heading shows, if there's a will, there's a way.
So if you all put in effort, there will be force.
Than the force will push you, and than you will have fun, and feel that band is fun.
~~SO KICK OFF THE THOUGHT OF PON BAND~~
Next year will be our Impressions.
and its the time for us to prove to the school we still rock,
even though we achieve a Silver. But is so bad about a silver?
At least we did put in our effort to achieve that medal right?
yeah, so lets head and move forward to Impressions.
and after impressions, SYF 2009!

So next year, we must really put in our best!
Get more sec 1s to join us.
Even now, if you know any sec 1 coming to st hilda's, pull them into band.
Show them that band rocks better than any other CCA.
of course la! we really rock what.
So, lets get our sec 1s next year. and make them love band like we do!

and i heard around 27 dec like that, thay say got band.
so ya, people try to make time for it okay!
As they say, if there's a will, there's a way. lols.

Hi everyone (:
First of all, i want to say good job to all those who went genting on clinching a silver award!
I'm really v v proud of the band. With only 1/3 (one-third) of the band going for genting, silver award is already v good. Although we had some hicups along the way, we still managed to play through both songs.
Even though we're all happy about the silver, we cannot be contented with it. We still have alot of room for improvement & we have to continue working hard for our upcoming Impressions 9 & SYF 2009.

2007 is gonna come to an end very soon & next year we're gonna have to start recruiting new Sec1s so everyone might be needed to come back to band on the 27, 28 or 29dec. Your respective section leaders will inform you about the details again.

WE HAVE 11 MORE DAYS TO THE GENTING TRIP.
and we're only left with 2 more practices. oh my oh my. time really flies eh!
so people(those who are going to genting), we really have no time to slack, we gotta buck up yo!
those who keep on ponning band, make an effort to come yeah! it's just 2 more practices. and then we're going to genting already. and plus our competition is on the 4th dec. after the competition, we can all play like crazy!! but if you guys wanna play like crazy after that, we gotta put in effort and make sure we get a gold. agree?

in the mean time, we should ALL work hard. note: ALL
33 people, so little? (sounds familiar? hahaha, that the starting of 1a05' cheer competition)
no no no, you're wrong. we must prove that we, st hilda's wind orchestra, is gonna be the best even though we're small. so what if we're small? AND SO WHAT IF THE REST OF THE BAND HAVE MORE PEOPLE?

those not going for the genting, you gotta pray for us alright. pray that we have a safe journey to and fro, pray that we'll all work hard, pray that we can get a gold back and pray for our health. yup, i think that's all. you guys too, have to work hard for next year's impressions 9! we're gonna be as busy as a bee next year. so, be prepared!

next year most of the sec 4s are gonna step down:/ I think i better stop here before I go rambling on how cliche but true the term "time flies" is.

The most important thing for the band, is to start and end off together

Hello banders!:D

just want to let you guys know that you are the best! for those going to genting trip, let's all work hard to together. let's aim for a gold! and then we can all play like crazy monkeys after the competition.

this competition is not a one man show, this is a team thing. there is never this thing call a one man show in band. we all have to work hard as a team. working hard would meant that we go home and practice. we should never wait for mr sim to come and practice with us during band. we could have use the time spent on practising that particular bar to move on to other part of the song! so guys, let's not be lazy and BRING HOME YOUR INSTRUMENTS TO PRACTISE!

the band is like a dragon boat. because in a dragon boat, the one sitting in front giving the tempo is mr sim, our conductor. and the person at the back steering the boat is the leaders and teachers and mr sim also.

because whenever the boat is heading the wrong direction, the person steering will guide and steer the boat(band) back to the original direction(goal). and of course the rest of the members who have to row the boat is the whole band.

every individual is essential in getting the boat to strive forward. just like every single band member is important in the band. when one person plays a wrong note or is out of tune, the band will be affected.

same goes for the boat, if one person slacks and stops rowing, the whole boat will slow down and head the wrong direction because the other side of the boat would be too strong. this would then give the person steering the boat a very hard time. so everyone in band matters. no matter what, we should stick together as a band, as a family through all difficult circumstances. if those who went for sec3 camp and did dragon boating, you'll understand better.
(got the dragon boat example from peiyun on friendster)

so we should play our part and start to encourage those who lost their passion for band and music. we all should help them to reignite(if there's this word) their passion for the band. coming for band shouldn't be a chore. you should come because you have the passion for music and want to enjoy.

to those who are not going for the competition, you guys should work equally hard because you guys wouldn't wanna fall behind right? so yup. as a band, we should work hard TOGETHER.

after the genting trip, i hope you guys(those who're going) will emerge as a stronger and better individuals. and of course, the band will proceed on to a higher level. if we're the best, we gotta prove it!
always remember, what you sow is what you reap. we sow hard work, we'll reap good results! so, come on people, let's all work towards our goal! :D
